Dasavatara Stotram is a celebrated Stotram composed by Sri Vedanta Desika, glorifying the ten
divine
incarnations (Dashavatara) of Lord Vishnu. Each verse of this stotram describes one of
Vishnu’s ten
avatars, highlighting their significance in restoring dharma.

incarnations.

The Ten Avatars Described in the Stotram
- 1. Matsya (The Fish) – Rescued the Vedas from the great deluge.
- 2. Kurma (The Tortoise) – Supported Mount Mandara during the churning of the ocean.
- 3. Varaha (The Boar) – Lifted Mother Earth from the depths of the cosmic ocean.
- 4. Narasimha (The Man-Lion) – Destroyed the demon Hiranyakashipu and protected Prahlada.
- 5. Vamana (The Dwarf) – Measured the universe in three steps, subduing King Bali.
- 6. Parashurama (The Warrior Sage) – Eliminated corrupt Kshatriya rulers 21 times.
- 7. Rama (The Ideal King) – Defeated Ravana and established dharma.
- 8. Balarama (The Plough-bearer) – Guided and protected dharma.
- 9. Krishna (The Divine Charioteer) – Delivered the Bhagavad Gita and defeated evil.
- 10. Kalki (The Future Avatar) – Will appear in the future to restore righteousness.
