Stotras
Sri Kamasikashtakam Stotras
Kamasikaṣṭakam is a powerful and devotional stotram composed by Swami Vedanta Desika in praise of Lord
Narasimha, the half-lion, half-man incarnation of Lord Vishnu. This stotram is dedicated specifically to
Kamasika Narasimha, the deity enshrined in the Ahobilam temple (Andhra Pradesh), where he is believed to
be seated in a posture of deep meditation (yoga-mudra) at the foot of a hill.
- The word "Kamasika" means "one who resides at will",
referring to Lord Narasimha’s presence at the temple.
- The stotram praises Narasimha’s supreme power, compassion,
and role as a protector.
- It describes how Lord Narasimha, though fierce, is also
deeply merciful to his devotees.
- Devotees recite this stotram for fearlessness, protection,
and removal of obstacles.
